Production Process
The process begins with preparing the PVC (polyvinyl chloride) compound, which forms the base of the floor. The primary ingredients are mixed into a dry blend or a liquid paste known as a plastisol. This stage is crucial for determining the final product's core properties.
Once the PVC compound is thoroughly mixed and heated to a molten, viscous state, it moves to the calender. The calender is a series of large, heated, counter-rotating rollers. The molten PVC is passed through the narrowing gaps between these rollers, which subjects it to intense pressure and shear forces. This action progressively shapes and thins the material into a continuous, uniform sheet or film. The precise control of roller temperature, speed, and gap is critical for achieving the exact thickness required for the dance floor.
After the base sheet is formed, it may pass through embossing rollers to impart specific surface textures. While a glossy finish is the primary goal, this step can be used to create either a perfectly smooth surface for maximum gloss or more complex, multi-level textures. Advanced techniques, such as chemical embossing, use chemical inhibitors or blowing agents to create a patterned relief, adding both aesthetic and functional value to the floor.
This is the most critical step for achieving a high-gloss finish. The formed vinyl sheet is coated with one or more performance layers
Once the continuous roll of finished flooring has cooled and set, it undergoes final quality checks. Then, a slitting machine cuts the wide master roll into narrower rolls of specified widths. These finished rolls are then carefully rolled, packaged, and prepared for shipment to distributors and end-users.
